In grammar, an adjunct noun is an optional noun that modifies another noun; functioning similarly to an adjective, it is, more specifically, a noun functioning as a pre-modifier in a noun phrase.
From Rick and Morty S1:E8, Rixty Minutes.
Below are all nouns or noun phrases modifying the noun “Brothers”, see screenshot. ➡️
- Alien Invasion (noun phrase)
- Tomato
- Monster
- Mexican Armada (noun phrase)
I checked out example titles of the real 60 Minutes and didn’t have much luck with the adjunct nouns. However, I did look at the universe that R&M inhabits, viz Netflix, and came up with:
- Prison Break
- Vampire Diaries
- Paradise PD
- Chicago Party Aunt
- Money Heist
- Squid Game
being found in just one screen-full of movies … ⤵️
